I don’t like 3D Movies

I’ve been meaning to vent my fury at the entertainment industries attempts to ram 3D down our throats. This isn’t just due to the spate of movies coming out but also down to the release of ‘new’ TVs that are supporting this format. Maybe I’m getting old but I just don’t see the value in 3D images. Let me start off by talking about Avatar. Forgetting about the week plot bad characterisation and the so-so dialogue, I was really underwhelmed by the 3D images. Yes the special effects were great and the designs were superb but the 3D was not as spectacular as I was hoping for. The 3D actually made me feel a bit ill as my eyes had to constantly adjust to the 2 different images inter-livening with each other ( I think thats how its done :s ). On top of that the glasses made me feel distanced from the movie ( I think this is down to the fact that the glasses you wear darkens the image slightly ) and I was already alienated by the complete lack of story.

There are quite a few movies coming out now which seem to be jumping on this bandwagon and I’m curious to see how audiences respond, granted Avatar did push the technology further then ever before and most people were curious to see it. However will they respond to films which were never originally intended to be made in 3D ( Alice in Wonderland, Clash of the Titans…etc ) and have had the techniques bolted on to it?

Can you imagine watching 3D movies in your home while wearing those glasses?

Until I see a holo deck like in Start Trek I’ll never be sold on 3D….

2012 was a phenomenal year for 3D movies, with the likes of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Avengers Assemble and Brave all making a big impact on the box office. And the movie industry has certainly not fallen out of love with stereoscopic 3D yet, with plenty of great new releases coming our way. Here we take a look at some of the most exciting 3D movies you can look foward to in 2013, including full details and sneak-peek trailers. ‘
