Thieves Market by A.I Bezzerides

Just finished reading this book and I have to say its absolutely amazing. Unremittingly dark. Its basically about a young man/boy who is attempting to star his own Trucking business.OK may not sound very interesting but it is. The book was culled from the authors memories of working with his father when he was growing up. Yet it’s not done through rose tinted glasses. Check it out.

(NB:The author just happened to script two of my all time favourite Film Noirs: ‘Kiss Me Deadly’ and ‘On Dangerous Ground’. If you liked them you will love this book!)

Die Hard 4.0

Well what can I say, its been the best hollywood blockbuster movie I’ve seen this summer so far, but thats not really saying much just take a look at the competition! However it was nowhere near as good as any of its predessors. Anyway John Mclane saves the world (America) again, and the explosions and action do a good jobof distracting the audience from the gaping plot holes (its July 4th yet the New York stock exchange is open? WTF). Two annoying things. The scen where Mclane lands on an unpiloted Jet….WTF? The bad guy….Alan Rickman, William Sadler, Jeremy Irons and then this guy? He was so wet it was unbelievable (surely they could have found an out of work European Actor?)
