Sirens Of Titan

By dipthegeezer

Another great Kurt Vonnegut book! Initially after finishing the book I didn’t think it was as good as Slaughterhouse 5 or Cat’s Cradle. However days later when I was thinking about the book, I realised how smart, clever and witty it actually is. Vonnegut is one of the few sci fi authors whose humanist ideals I’m drawn to. The description of the ‘Martian Army’ that invades Earth and ultimately fails. The new absurd new religion that Rumford creates on Earth and that people blindly follow and the ultimate realisation that the whole point of human civilsation was to deliver a spare part to the a stranded alien on Titan. Yet out of that realisation comes the hope that now human kind will look within themselves to find the meaning of life.
